It is very unfortunate but I have heard and read articles about cursive not being taught anymore. My question would be - how do you sign your name if you can't write cursive?

There have been some good suggestions so far. Perhaps if you go to the library and search for books that explain and have samples of cursive letters. Or go to stores that have supplies for teachers or even look in the magazine or comic book section in stores to see what books they may have. If you can take a sample from an adult that has good handwriting that you can copy (or use with tracing paper) and practice - one letter at a time over and over. Practice does help! Once you get the individual letters down practice putting them together. Over time it gets easier - believe me. Each person has their own writing style and you may find a style all your own - unique to you.

Have fun doing this - don't make it a chore. If you know any teachers in your life (outside of school) he/she may be willing to help tutor you also. Once you become an adult it will find it is extremely beneficial to know cursive. Best to learn now rather than later.

If you have any time at all, teach yourself cursive. Writing things longhand has a different effect on your brain -- studies show that students who take class notes down in longhand absorb the information better.

Find a site on the internet, or a book, that shows the cursive characters, and walks you through the process of stringing characters together. And then, just practice, practice, practice.

It will not take long before you realize how important and useful cursive writing can be.

You have to go over each letter individually. Try working on it this summer. Look up a picture of the cursive alphabet and practice each letter individually until you master each one. Then, whenever you are bored practice writing random words including names until you are good at linking words together. You will find your own handwriting. When you write anything try using cursive. You are not required to know cursive it's just nice to know.

Get someone to write a sentence in quite large writing - then put some tracing paper over it and go over it. That should help.

If you do not write in cursive naturally, you are not supposed to.

If you don't believe me, type into the google search bar: Graphology.
