1. Paying attention to the intonation mark, listen carefully. (Do I have to use 'mark'?)

2. Put your tongue between your upper teeth and lower teeth, and say th by letting the air over your tongue abruptly.

3. If the question has a rising intonation, mark an upward arrow, if it has a falling intonation, mark a downward arrow in the parentheses.

4, Blow out the candles on the birthday cake. He is trying to blow out the candles on the cake. (candles or candlelights?)

5. Do you have any brothers or sisters?
No, I don't. I am an only child./ I am the only child./ I am an only son. / I am an only daughter. (Which expressions are right?)

----------------------------------------------------
I have posted sentences. Would you check whether they are grammatical or not. I'd like to use correct English expressions.

1 looks fine, looks like the use of "mark" is ok.

2 is ok but I would put the "th" in quotes.

3 is perfectly fine.

4 is hard to follow but since I don't know the context, it's ok. The use of candles is also ok, don't use candlelights.

5 No, I don't. I am an only child. -- ok

I am the only child. --- not ok, should be "I am an only child"

The only son and only daughter are also ok.

Hope this helped...

MY SUGGESTIONS:

1. Paying attention to the accent mark, listen carefully.

2. Put your tongue between your upper teeth and lower teeth, and say 'th' by puffing the air over your tongue abruptly.

3. If the question has a rising intonation, mark it with an upward arrow; if it has a falling intonation, mark it with a downward arrow.

4, Blow out the candles on the birthday cake. He is trying to blow out the candles on the cake.

♦Candlelight is something provided by lit candle flames. It will disappear but it cannot be "blown out."

5. Do you have any brothers or sisters?

No, I don't. I am an only child./ I am an only son. / I am an only daughter.

♦All but 'I am the only child' are correct.

No, don't use mark

letting the air pass over your tongue

In the parenthesis, if the question - I think your way might make some-one think Do I have to use the parenthesis for the falling question and the downward question, or only for one of these.

Definitely 'candles'

No, I don't I am an only child
