References are the sources you used in your research. You can either cite them in footnotes, endnotes, or as a bibliography. Your reader may want to find and read those references to get a better understanding of where you got your information.

Appendices are those additional documents that add material to your work, but should not be included in the body of your work. An example would be a paper that addresses the vacation habits of Londoners with appendices that include train timetables, vacation site brochures, and charts of statistics about vacationers. Smaller charts might be included in the main body of the paper, but larger items would best be in an appendix.

Another example of appendix is the charts of chi-square values at the end of a chapter on calculating statistical measures. They are useful additional material, but do not belong in the body of the narrative.

A reference is when you refer to another piece of work or research. You draw a conclusion from it, mention the author in brackets, then list the details (title, author, publisher, page) alphabetically at the end of your work, or at the bottom of the page. Each education organisation sets out references in a specific way, so ask for a lay-out guide. An appendix is a diagram, chart, graph, list or supporting document, possibly of data you have collected, that you put at the back of your work in full. It could also be a questionnaire that you used, for example. It is important to set your work out correctly so get the guide. If they don't have guidelines ask for some examples of previous students' work to give you an idea of how to set it out.

Reference is reference.

Appendices is the one pasted mostly at the back of the book and also called reference since it's "reference" indeed.

I think it's best to be specific,

like

"appendix,"

"bibliography,"

"glossary,"

"index."

Something like that.

All are references so choose one though.

A reference is when you quote the source of the information, eg: author and date and then provide the full details of the publication in your bibliography. An appendix is when you provide additional information at the end of your assignment, such as tables, digrams, explanation of terms, and refer to them in the body of the assignment, Hope this helps
