Crossman makes several nice pump air rifles that would do well. Places like Wal-mart, Gander Mountain, and Bass Pro have good selections of air rifles starting at about $40. CO2 air guns are mostly best for semi-auto firing. Many pneumatic pumps are sold with a 4x30 scope included. No pellet rifle I've ever used has had any recoil whatsoever.
