Question:
spellchecker?

Why does the spellchecker on this site highlight and point out a word that isn't wrong?

Spellcheck likes "someones" but not "someone's" . If I am trying to say "someone's thoughts" I need to add the apostrophy. "someones thoughts" would be incorrect, yet spellcheck likes it better.

Sometimes, too, spellcheck will pick on a word in the middle of a sentence. Say, it will pick out the word "color" and it will suggest to me that it should be "Color". Why would I want to capitalize a word in the middle of a sentence if it isn't a proper noun?

My English teacher would have a fit if she were to see this!

Spellcheckers generally are rubbish! Unfortunately we live in a world where most kids and young adults have not been taught grammar, spelling or punctuation. These are the people who are becoming computer programmers, and who therefore are presumably writing the spellcheckers!

Don't rely on your spellchecker. You clearly already know how to spell and even how to use apostrophes (although I've just noticed you spelt apostrophe wrong! Sorry.)

True, I had this problem as well, but I just overrode it and moved forward. No spell checker will ever be as thorough as a human being. And online checkers have a lot more limitations than the ones in your word processor.

However, I am impressed with the implementation. It works really well and isn't as intrusive as many of the ones I've seen for online editing.

Some just has glitches. Like if you wanted the word 'its' it might want to change it to 'it's'.
