Nobody I know says it. It's advertising talk. The only time you ever hear it is in those cheesy, overblown commercials where the "modern" housewife comes in to her son and his friends and says "Oh boys, who wants some piping hot pizza?" (Or something to that effect.) And now someone is gonna be a douchebag and try to say "OH I SAY PIPING HOT." But I know you don't, so don't try to fool me.

Everyone says piping hot. YOU say it, your whole family says it, all your aunts and uncles and cousins say it, and even your family dog says it.

Piping hot

Meaning

Very hot, usually referring to food.

Origin

In Scotland, ceremonial dishes of food are often brought to the table to the accompaniment of bagpipes, i.e. they are 'piped in'. This could easily be imagined to be the origin of 'piping hot'. It isn't though. Nor does the phrase derive from food being 'piped aboard' ships. The derivation of this little phrase is the sizzling, whistling sound made by steam escaping from very hot food, which is similar to the sound of high-pitched musical pipes.

An early citation is given in Philemon Holland's translation of Pliny's Historie of the world, 1601:

"Beanes... fried all whole as they be, and so cast piping hot into sharp vineger."

Piping hotChaucer had also used the phrase, in language less accessible to us, but much earlier. This is from The Miller's Tale, circa 1390:

He sente hir pyment meeth and spiced ale

And wafres pipyng hoot out of the glede.

[He sent her sweetened wine and well-spiced ale

And waffles piping hot out of the fire]

Use unstated gestures. you won't be able to tell somebody you adore them... those are basically words. i will say i like You to you, and we've in no way met... does no longer propose a lot does it? you may demonstrate love. no longer purely between the sheets the two, considering that fairly isn't love the two.. that's intercourse. it fairly is the way you look at him, the way you preserve your self for him, the way you flirt with him, and tell him your innermost secrets and techniques. Now that's love. I used "him" interior the above, yet "her" suits basically besides gazing the region.

Hey....that's not very nice....The Pillsbury Doughboy isn't a "bag"...I think he's pretty cute and don't go telling me he isn't real because Santa told me he was.

Actually the only other time I might have heard it was in a restaurant when the waitress brought over our plates and said to be careful not to touch them because they were "piping hot".

A 70 year old woman I work with. She also calls things "doo-dads" when she can't remember the names of them. Like, "can you hand me those doo-dads over there" and she also says "jimminy crickets"

You can imagine how extremely annoying she is...
