I'm writing a description for an application, and I suddenly thought that I don't know which is correct !

"....and performing minor maintenance tasks. My standard was very good, and I was promoted to team leader within two months, WERE/WHERE I ensured the level of my team was up to standard, I then trained new recruits, showed them how to...."

Or another example...

"...I have recently joined a Swedish mentoring program. WERE/WHERE I have been paired up with Erik, a ten year old underprivileged child and am acting as his older brother getting involved with..."

Do you know in the above example which word should be used, were or where?
Thanks !

Where yes. see http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search?p=where+means&ei=UTF-8&fr=moz2-ytff-tyc

Were no. see http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search?p=were+means&ei=UTF-8&fr=moz2-ytff-tyc

Use search engines, hope that helps.

basically a sprint tip- usually questions with consistently or in no way are incorrect, cuz there are frequently exceptions in many circumstances. the subject count sentence should not be to exact and could be an extremely customary and huge theory touching directly to the paragraph. good good fortune!

1. where

2. where

The two words have completely different meanings:

You use "were" when you're describing something that happened in the past (e.g. we WERE going to the cinema, they WERE going shopping)

"Where" is generally regarding a place (e.g. we are going to the cinema WHERE we will watch the latest James Bond movie, we went to Selfridges WHERE we bought some shoes)

'where' in both..

infact, you can skip where in the first one. i'll reframe it..

"..My standard

was very good, and I was promoted to team leader within two months I ensured the level of

my team was up to standard I then

trained new recruits, showed them

how to.."
