Punter

1. A trader who hopes to make quick profits. Basically, another term for "speculator".

2. A British and Australian term for one who gambles, a bettor.

Investopedia Says: A punter's approach is to speculate rather than invest. Thus, punters aren't concerned with the fundamentals of an investment; instead, they attempt to make a quick profit by selling to somebody else at a higher price. Punters speculate in any market, but especially like options, futures and forex because of the leverage.

A punter is an informal word for client. So if you were buying in a shop you'd be a punter for example.

A punter is one who punts...I suspect it has something to do with football...maybe this person is saying you are someone who gets something started - someone who starts the game...but I think a punt is only so far, so maybe it means someone who starts things off. I don't know if it's good...Depends on who called you that. Peculiar anyway.
