Brits do pronounce the final r but only of the following word begins with a vowel sound.

say 'car' a few times (no r )

but then say 'the car is red' you naturaly say and almost join the r to is.

other words that end in er such as mother brother sister end in the schwa sound 'uh' but again add a word begining with a vowel as in 'mother in law' you add the r sound.

The "American" accent is actually a product of colonial isolation. Back when the first colonists arrived, the accent they spoke with was actually similar to the one used by Americans today. However, since the colonists were isolated from the rest of the empire, the accent over in England changed over the centuries (personally, I blame the French), but the American accent never encountered the same linguistic influences.

well its the way people say things , i say" Sorry" the way it spelled , but most Americans say " Sarry" . or some people say " coffee " , and others say caffee , and some say " my " and others say "ma" , some say proper english, and others say ghetto languge , and others have and accent, and most say it normally .
