I am trying to apply to job from Careerbuilder.com and the last sentence says "Please refer to DED when responding." It is a search firm handling the position. What the heck are they talking about??? What does DED stand for?

It may been the Department of Economic Development, which each state has.

The DED runs the unemployment office, and employers often post job openings with them. They will take your application, and submit it to the employer who is seeking new hirees.

This saves the employer from having to deal with "walk ins" and taking time from the day to screen applicants. The DED does the work, at tax payer expense. What a deal for employers.

DED is probably the initials of the person who is knowledgeable about the job requirements and who will first need to see your application.
