Don't try it. I have a friend who tries that, and she never puts the words in the right context. I always want to start laughing.

No sweetie, don't think of it as a white thing it's really an education thing. No I don't mean as in going to school but when we expose ourselves to different environments we collect a better vocabulary. Perhaps if we other groups start to read more culturally diverse books and watch more than sitcoms that represent our own culture we would be better in interacting with different people. And also, I am offended that you think whites are the only ones who can use such immense words. I think you need to surround yourself to more educated (culturally diverse) people.

... Maybe you *are* stupid. Maybe they're just using normal words that they use in everyday life, and the fact that you can't understand them means you need to go back to school. What's the highest level of education you've completed? Because when I was in high school (I only just graduated, btw) we were required to know certain words to get through the SAT. Despite, here are some nice big words for you to use:
(those are all exactly 13 letters long, btw. I hope that's long enough for you)

"big words"
"white people"
"two dollar words"
I'm sorry that you "feel" stupid, but you are probably referring to people with an education.
How to fight back?
-Start working on crossword puzzles to get a better idea on what words mean.
-Read a local newspaper daily to get a good idea on what good grammar is supposed to sound like.
-Use a dictionary to look up words you don't understand.
-If you don't understand a word that somebody uses, ask them what that word means. It'll make you smarter, not stupid.
People don't use "big words" to make you feel stupid. It's not "personal" at all.
That's how I perfected my English and got out of Brooklyn!

The best thing for you to do to improve your vocabulary is to read a lot of books. I doubt that anyone is trying to make you feel stupid, you may feel that way because your a bit under educated. Don't feel alone in that as most people are today. Words are a wonderful way to expand your communication skills and to set yourself apart from the crowd. Learn as many as you can and you'll never feel stupid again.
Good Luck to you, you won't regret the effort it takes to learn the language.
Start with something your interested in, be it fiction or nonfiction. Even trashy romance novel authors use words that are good to have as a part of your vocabulary. (Though "He moved inexorably toward her" is a bit over used) Anything by Dean Koontz is good for a few trips to the dictionary and entertaining as well. Authors of fiction also do a great deal of research into a subject when they write so that, while the story may be imaginary, the circumstances surrounding it will be fairly accurate. You can learn about a lot of different subjects along the way. I read everything from journals kept by a Captain in the Colonial army during the Revolutionary War to Harry Potter.

Just because someone uses words you don't know doesn't mean they're trying to make you look stupid. My Dad uses words I've never heard and will never use. He uses them because he knows them, not to make me look stupid. I had a boyfriend who used big words. Guess what? He was black. Has nothing to do with race. It has to do with education. Maybe you should take some classes if you feel like you are less than other people. The only one making you feel that way is you. It's your own insecurity. White people have nothing to do with it. Why do you want "fight back"? Just educate yourself and it won't be an issue. Do you think black people with big vocabularies go around saying white people use big words to make them look stupid? No. Because they don't. Stop trying to put down another race and raise yourself up.

Read some books and educate yourself. Don't try and pretend. If you are not into books, read the NY Times, find out whats happening in your city. If you come across words you do not understand, look them up online. In no time you will have a larger vocabulary (see how easy that was!) and you will be able to communicate with your peers (another good one!) and employment prospects a whole lot better.

Just because someone has an education and they are white, don't get so offensive. If you got an education, maybe you could use a few "two dollar words". Stop blaming other people's color for your own stupidity. (which is obvious in your post.)

I'm white, 1/4 part of me is Indian.. you can use any words with me, as I don't judge a person on speech level, I don't judge at all! It's who you are, use your own speech preferences...... I'm on everyones' side...... no race issues here. actually, just ignore them fools, they don't deserve your time if they are like that.... I'd ignore them too...
