When you are indicating a time span (on web, if that matters), should there be a space before and after the hyphen?

10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
or
10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

thank you

I make the space, just out of reading consideration. Both are acceptable

You need a standard en dash (–) with spaces.

So:

10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

However, if it was like this:

3:00–4:00p.m.

You would not include a space. This is because it is clearly legible as 3:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. Your one, however, looks confusing and irregular without a space.

See here for a complete set of rules:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dash#Ranges_of_values

Hyphens should not be confused with dashes. The rules are generally not adhered to on the Web, though.

I don't know about on the web, but punctually speaking it's a space before and a space after.

you should leave no space in continuous writing script in time spam(as cursive writing say's)

i think on web also be the same.
