Christmas 2014 (continued), slightly sunward of the orbit of Saturn, somewhat above the plane of the ecliptic

So I left the Christmas party at a run, with Lisa's kiss still warm on my lips, and ten minutes later I was in space, checking my threat board for enemy contact.

My left arm buzzed. "O come, all ye faithful and fatigued, home for the holidays, those of you who aren't regularly on patrol, anyway," said the voice of Lieutenant Commander Mary Stedman through the radio.

"Orange One here, [3] Mary, did you know that didn't make any sense?" asked the voice of Flight Lieutenant Keith Hughes.

"Clarifying for Keith, here," said Mary. "False alarm. Return to base, all of ye merry gentlemen who aren't regularly patrolling at this time."

"[7] This never happened before," said Keith.

"It's an asteroid grouping, otherwise it's a silent night out there. The asteroids look sort of like a flight of Cyclops, Bulgers, and Battlesuits, on the scope." Mary clarified. "Nothing dangerous. [10] It's gonna be all right."

"Mako One returning to base," I said. The sun was a tiny dot, far far away, but still, I could imagine that I felt [6] sunshine on my shoulders. Then I realized I didn't know whether I was Mako One or Crimson Three. Didn't matter. I shrugged, which felt really strange in soldiered battloid mode.

In fifteen minutes, I was back at the party. I passed through make-out deck on the way there. It had been decorated with a nativity scene, with artificial [2] pine cones and holly berries. I had a good laugh. Pines and holly aren't native to the little town of Bethlehem, I thought to myself. There was also the "silver and gold" scene from the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer TV special, a veritable [5] winter wonderland.

I looked around, but didn't see Lisa. I found Vanessa, sitting at a table. When she looked up, I could see that her eyes were red-rimmed. "Vanessa?"

"I was [9] crying, waiting, hoping you'd come back," she said.

"Um," I fumbled for words. "Were you hoping I'd come back alive from a battle, or are you jealous of Lisa?"

"I know you have your [8] rhymes & reasons" -- she began.

"I'm Mako One, but I'm not Doug West," I said gently.

Sleep well little Children - Christmas Eve 1944

Sleep Well, Little Children for Christmas day is near

Be watchful of what you see and hear

It is the best of all the Seasons

Brings to mind past Rhymes and reasons

That flow beyond imaginings door

Replaces all that has gone before

The War is here but sleep peacefully my lamb

For the Shepherd is also the Great “I am”

And He has bought us Joy to the World

To face all the bombs and flags unfurled

To protect and guide you through the restless haze

And bring you through to brighter days

Though the winter wind might send its blast

Remember the Winter Wonderland of the past

The sleigh bells ringing and the taste of cherries

Collecting Pine Cones And Holly Berries

Snuggle up in bed my dears

Keep warm and dream the dreams that chase away all fears

And just like the Faithful who were waiting for the Birth

At Bethlehem a miracle did herald it to the earth

Some sat Crying Waiting Hoping in the night

But were awakened and inspired by the Bright Star Light

So too should you never let your hope depart

But keep it safe as truth within your heart

Sleep now and wake when it is dawn

And you will see a brand new Christmas morn.

Miss Kitty sat bent over the books as she pondered the totals. THIS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE! Her totals were in the red!

"Mary?," she called to the girl behind the bar. "MARY, DID YOU KNOW we lost money this month so far?"

"I think it's that parrot Miss Sunshine gave you," Mary responded. "No one likes it. It's too loud and obnoxious."

"Yeah," Kitty smirked. "Just like it's former owner." But, she still had to do something to bring those figures back up into the black. A party! A real Dodge City Christmas Hoedown. That would bring them back in. She could decorate the place with PINE CONES AND HOLLY BERRIES, maybe some paper chains and strands of popcorn. She could get Fetus to chop her down a Christmas tree. She had heard that the country side looked like a WINTER WONDERLAND once you got away from the slush and wagon ruts of the town streets.

It was also possible that a Christmas party just might win back Matt from that Sunshine Mac Gillicutty. "Instead of having a monkey on my back," she smirked to herself. "I have SUNSHINE ON MY SHOULDERS!" Well, No use CRYING, WISHING, HOPING. Time was wasting and she had a lot to accomplish in the next few days. Oh, JOY! TO THE WORLD, she may be just another saloon girl. But, SLEEP WELL, LITTLE CHILDREN! Miss Kitty is going to set the record straight. IT'S GONNA BE ALL RIGHT!

About two thousand years ago, a child was born in a stable, because his parents were travelling, and the Inn was too full.

He turned out to be the Son of God, and grew up to become the Saviour of the world.

Is that era different enough ;-)

Note: (Messages in parenthesis like this one are just quick commentary not related to the story) My Intent.. was to kill some time, have fun, and hope i get best answer for a constuctive story. and to Meet ur little ''challenge'' but mainly because i had lots of fun doing this

one day, long long on Christmas eve, it was very cold here.. out.. in the snow. This Never Happenned Before.. what was happening to christmas? it was very cold.. in the year.. 10 B.C. it was very stormy, and chilly out in the forest, howling from Pack of Antartic wolves (if they exist, supposing they do?) very nut Grenching Terror in the face of a young boy living all alone in his cottage. His parents were taken away from him on Christmas Eve at night it was morning at the time.. the young boy's parents were out looking for firewood and food in this winter wonderland. When suddenly.. the young boy hears a howl coming from the back window.. which his parents exited through the back door. The Boy was about 8 years old at the time. All he kept thinking to himself is, Its Gonna Be All Right.

After long cold anticipation the Young Boy tries to fall Asleep in his bed, having faith that his parents will be there in the morning. At his bed he is Crying, Waiting , Hoping his parents make it back safe and sound. as he falls deeply and slowly asleep as if in a trance in bed he can hear his mother whispering Sleep Well, Little Child (i took out the plural form of the word, Sorry ^.^) just like a mother singing rock a bye baby. The young boy wakes up with Sunshine on His (My) Shoulders. He wanted to just get up from bed and sing Joy To The World to his Parents, he quickly ascends to the ''Master'' Bedroom as if he were going to open his christmas gifts. As he opens the door he does not find his Parents there. The Young boy was crying in despair hoping his parents are allright. The Young boy hesistates to go outside and look for his Family knowing that it is dangerous and his Dad told the young boy never to go outside in the winter alone, And his Mom told him never to cook Alone. So here the Little boy lies in Wait.. and waits patiently he sits alone, trying desperately to shake off any fear in his heart. As Time Passes he starts to fall asleep slowly, as it approaches night Until.. a thump knocked on his door.. all he could wonder was what was that Noise, and where did it come from? another thump passes by

only to hear it come from the Front Door. the young boy is scared, and Trembling. after several ''thumps'' on the Door the young boy decides to go up to the door and unlock it, inviting whoever dares to come at a cottage in a forest at night. The Young boy opens the wooden door. only to find his Parents crying, The Young Boy also joins The Family reunion

The Parents hold their son tight and tells them they love him with Tears of Joy. the Young boy cries mommy and daddy as he holds on onto his parents tight. The Mother and the Father apologized to their Son for leaving him alone for so long. It turns out they were moving!! the Parents left the boy on Christmas eve to prepare for their move The Young boy's christmas gift was him and his family moving to a more modern area with better living conditions. The Family leaves their furniture and non portable (too big to carry) items with them behind in the cottage. They Leave for Their New House, New Life, and a New and first Job! In the end the Young little 8 year old boy Lived, and so did his Parents, and they Lived Happily Ever After. The End
