I notice that Spell Check always challenges "enquiries" and suggests a change to "inquiries" but I'm sure enquiries is an actual word. What do you think could be happening here?

Yet again an example of why British English is more precise. Whilst we English use the "e" form to ask for example "we wish to enquire why these colonials have dumbed down our language yet again". Concurrently we could form an inquiry to delve into the depths of etymology to find out why this has occurred. However a mere cursory glance at the pitiful colonial mass existence might bring us to the conclusion that lack of comprehension of our precious language is the source. Beware of American spell checkers creeping in and tinkering with our elongated but superior spelling. Above all please, please do not ever call this language from England's pleasant pastures born American!

Inquiry is commonly used in american english spelling,
British english uses both, though predominantly enquiry.
Technically there is a slight difference between the two with inquiry being a more formal investigation and enquiry being more like a query on a subject.

They mean the same. "Enquiry" is the British spelling. "Inquiry" is American English spelling.

There is no difference apart from the spelling. 'Enquiries' is the English/Australian etc spelling and 'inquiries' is the US spelling. I'm using the English spell check and it has allowed both without question.

Spell Check is only as good as its programming. The two words mean the same thing. Add enquiries to your spell check dictionary if you have a program that allows you to do so and it will stop changing/flagging your word.

Enquiries is the British spelling and inquiries is the American spelling. Your spellcheck is American apparently!
