the sentance is just saying that Lingaard did a report that said the average computer user's problems seemed to be performance problems. The performance problems came from the computers bad navigation design, bad screen design....

the problems that they identified - or the problems that they found, seemed- or appeared, to come from...

There are two verbs because one is the verb of the sentence and the other is the verb of the noun clause ("that typical usability problems....).

Subject of the sentence: Lindgaard

Verb: reported

Noun clause: the rest of the sentence.

Complete Subject of the noun clause: typical usability problems of software identified

Verb of the noun clause: seemed to be

"Identified," as used here, means "at issue," or "being discussed."

You are correct that it is a very long sentence. I hope I've helped a little.

Identified, in this usage, means the softward programs that Lindgaard studied. The sentence is saying that the problems seemed to be performance problems, and he lists four examples of these performance problems.

It is very long and confusing, and badly written. However, Rachel has deciphered it accurately (and apparently effortlessly ... 'the sentence is just saying...') !
