Do you think the expression 'touch base' is over used?

I am weary of hearing "I need to touch base" with so and so.

Unfortunately, my experience is doubly irritating. There is someone I know who not only abuses this expression but also adds an 's' to the end. She says "touch bases". It makes my ears bleed.

I don't think it's overused here in San Diego, though I agree: it seems effeminate and is annoying. But it is amazing just how much of the American vernacular relates to baseball:
touch base, strike out, right off the bat, ballpark figure, play hardball, drop the ball, tough break, raincheck, off base, etc etc.
I don't think I could make it a day without using baseball slang, though when I catch myself saying 'touch base' I feel like a middle aged office worker.

Well, lets touch base with this feeling of yours. Have you been touching base with all of your personal and business contacts? If not this may be causing you to touch base with a feeling of guilt and it is touching base with projecting upon the person that is mentioning touching base with so and so. My suggestion is that you touch base with your feelings. Touch base with the reason that these feelings have manifested themselves within you and touch base with a way of finding that happy medium between your touch base issues and touching base with just being happy with those that touch base with so and so. I do hope that helped. If not feel free to touch base with me and I would be more then happy to touch base with my reasoning for this answer. Keep in touch. Me :)

It must be overused by someone you are in contact with often.
I had not heard the term before.
