Please copy and paste it back to me, after you have corrected it.

Also, if you think you could make the cover letter even better, I would appreciate your help.
Dear Sir/Madam:

I have been encouraged by friends to contact you concerning possible openings for a Sales Representative. After reviewing your company brochure, I am confident that I can be an asset to your company and would appreciate your reviewing the enclosed resume that depicts my sales characteristics and skills.

Accepting challenges is the foundation of my life experiences and something I do with confidence. You will find me a totally committed individual with pride in being direct, spontaneous and communicative. I can maintain records, perform numerical calculations with accuracy and I need little direction to complete assigned tasks. These are the qualities that make an excellent Sales Representative.

From past experiences and education, I have acquired persuasive techniques that are needed to influence customers in making choices. My leadership skills are developed and have allowed me to spontaneously interact with people from all walks of life. I am a motivator and organizer and these skills have enabled me to effectively defuse problem situations with customers using tact, thus creating a long-term client base. Teamwork is another skill I have acquired and one I know is necessary for organizational cohesiveness. Over the years, I have had to establish daily operational bases for projects/programs and provide the direction to insure the progress and deadline were met.

I would appreciate the opportunity to meet and further discuss my qualifications, and any sales positions that you might have. I also look forward to hearing from you in the near future, thank you in advance for your consideration.

Yours Sincerely,

As someone who regularly recruits I would say the following:

Firstly, phone up the HR department and check if the company concerned accepts speculative applications, and if so, find out the name of the person the letter should be addressed to. That's a nice touch and shows initiative and enthusiasm. Oh, and lose the reference to your friends; it looks as if you can't make decisions on your own.

I think this is a very good letter.

Just a couple of points:

I would not open your intro by saying that you have been encouraged by friends to write/apply.

It sounds as if you have no mind of your own and would not have contacted the company had your friends not suggested it to you. .

You have 2 split infinitives in your letter which I,being a traditionalist,do not like. viz

to spontaneously interact

to effectively diffuse

also the bottom line of your penultimate paragraph includes the word 'insure'

the word you are looking for here is 'ensure'

Otherwise brill and G.L.

In your last line you write "I also look forward to hearing from you in the near future, thank you in advance for your consideration."

Between 'future' and 'thank' I would either change the comma to a semi-colon, or use the second phrase as a new sentence altogether.

Beyond that, very nice--if your resume is this great, you should get a call in no time!

It looks fine to me , I may have done it differently , but it shows your personality.

I would check the word > insure < and see if >ensure< is what you mean .
