Question:
What is some common English terminology used in Europe, but not here in the US? *please read description*?

I'm looking for a list of words that are used as everyday terms in GB and England (or over in that area) that when you use in other english speaking countries, such as the US, they make no sense.

Yeah, yeah, it's a pretty bad explanation, so I'll just give an example:

In, England, they say 'Can I have a rubber?' while as in the US, they say 'Can I borrow an eraser?'

~Does anyone know of any other words or phrases like that?

alot of my friends say American words by accident lolol :D *blank* I can never think of things off the top of my head...

Mum- Mom, Nappy- Diaper... rofl, Lift- Elevator, rubbish- trash, Toilet/loo-Restroom, Jumper- Sweater, Porridge- Oat meal, Trainers- Sneakers, Aubergine- Eggplant(Gakupo lol), Plaster- Band Aid, Primary School- elementary school, Crisp- Potato chips, Sweets- Candy, Courgette - Zucchini(I always looked in the back of the dictionary and this was the last word lol), Fizzy/soft drink/pop- soda pop, Film- movie, Chips- fries, Supermarket- Grocery store, Chemist/pharmacy - drug store, Anti Clockwise- Counter clockwise... gah my brain's melted... x___x

Owo I'm sure there's huge lists on the internet, wow it's funny how many American words I use without noticing... I remember listing them in my english book ages ago... gahhh omfg German speaking exam tomoz *sob*

Oh umm just though of a phrase... it's British right lol?

'I haven't the foggiest' (no idea). Mate(retarded way of saying friends, I never use this word)

People at school say words like mint and sick(like cool or w/e) and phrases like 'on my bill'(on my own, think it comes from on my billy tod... gah wtf) or 'oh my days'(think it's just omg, makes em sound like an old person when they say it.... rofl) which is seriously annoying.... Dx

Whenever they use these random words I joke about and reply to the literal meaning of the word.

People in my area say creepy stuff like adding love at the end of their sentences like 'are you alright love?' and say words like bloody hell/blimey/blooming heck... well not really but old-ish people sorta do...

people say ********... well I do lol... oops going onto random slang wtf words.... f ag is slang for cigarette(lmao)... words like chuffed and naff always seem funny to me... nm....... |||orz

This Irish friend of mine who worked at my old workplace for a while got frustrated when he was trying to explain what "queue" was to some people here, cause it sounds like "cue", so they were like "What, like a cue ball? HAHAHA" and stuff like that lol. It means a line-up =D

Also you should read the Georgia Nicolson books! They have loads of british/european phrases. Like Nungas = boobs, Fringe = Bangs, Trousers = Pants, Snog = Kiss, etc...

to "knock me up" means to pay someone a visit, but here it means to get someone pregnant, which I find funny!
